I consider these principles as essential to fight Western governments with their own means and challenge their hypocrsy. They are not yet set in stone, but should be the principles for this strategy. Everything apart from this initiative might follow different principles.
1. Our actions are non-violent forms of protest
- we demand peace and an end to violence
- non-violent forms of protest are more likely to succeed
2. Our actions respect national and international laws
- we demand accountability and adherence to international law, the ICJ and ICC rulings, etc.
- we exert our rights and use the democratic tools that we have
3. Discrimination or hate speech is not tolerated
- we demand adherence to human rights. We believe that all humans have the same rights and should be treated with dignity
4. We are aware of our differences
- we are open to constructive criticism and try to learn and grow
- we try to incorporate a variety of perspectives, especially of those most affected (Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims)
- we have to consider all possible negative effects on Palestinians or other people that are more exposed or vulnerable than we are
- we are aware that not everyone can participate in an equal manner and that some have to step back in order to minimize their personal risks (e.g people in Arab countries, Arabs in Western countries who might lose their visa without necessary legal support, etc.)
5. We are aware of possible risks
- we are aware of our own personal risks and possible dangers that our participation might cause
- we handle data and information with caution and responsibility
- we don’t share more personal information than necessary and decentralize information as much as possible
- we know that no online or public space is really secure
